Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 Guitar Amp

Peavey Vypyr VIP 1

The Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 is an amazing amp that packs a lot of fantastic features into a compact unit at a great price!

Looking for a great sounding and versatile practice amp that really rocks then the Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 guitar amp could be what you are looking for.

Peavey is one of the great names in rock music synonymous with some of the greatest names in guitar music.  Hartley Peavey founded Peavey Electronics in 1965 having built his first amplifier in 1957.  From humble begins in the basement of Hartley Peavey the company has gone on to become one of the worlds largest manufacturers and suppliers of musical and audio equipment.  It has been written that Peavey always dreamed of becoming a rock star but it can certainly be argued that he has left a far more permanent mark on the music world by being one of the leading innovators in sound amplification.

Amongst the range of amps that Peavey produce they have a great range of small practice amps which act to introduce the bedroom guitarist to the range and power of Peavey amps.  The Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 guitar amp is an excellent example of this.

The Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 is part of the Vypyr VIP range of guitar amps.  The VIP bit stands for Variable Instrument Performance Amplifier which means that you can plug in your acoustic, bass of electric guitar and it will be amplified.  Peavey say that this is the first amp in the world which can provide amplification for a variety of instruments.  Mind you I have a Marshall 12 W bass amp which sounds great when I plug my electric guitar in so perhaps this is a hollow claim.  However, there are a lot of features packed into this little amp which makes it a winner in my book.

The Peavey Vypyr VIP1, for the first time ever in an amplifier in this category, allows the electric guitar player access to instrument models. Using appropriate technology, Peavey uses a combination of powerful 32-bit, floating point SHARC processors and patented Transtube analog circuitry to create a really great sounding modelling amplifier.  It is a bold claim but there is nothing else at this price that sounds quite as good as the Peavey Vypyr VIP1.  All VYPYR effects, amp models and parameter controls can be accessed via the amp itself, with no need to hook the amplifier up to a computer.  However should you want to do so there is a USB interface that allows you to connect directly with your PC.  The Peavey’s front face and controls are very clean looking and allow you to see and easily adjust the control position, no guessing where the control is supposed to be, or having to manually move it to where it should be preset to preset.

As previously mentioned the Peavey Vypyr VIP1 has a USB bi-directional data and audio port which provides an easy way to connect to your PC for easy home recording.  You can also connect into the VYPYR software and store presets, get lessons, and practice to backing tracks while connected to your computer. All of the revolutionary features from the original VYPYR series of amps with some great new features making it even better than it was perhaps.  At 20W output you get quite a lot of power which should satisfy most bedroom guitarists but you will find that there is sufficient volume for the amp to be used as a gigging amp too.  So more power, more effects, more amp models, the Variable Instrument Input, instrument models, make the Peavey Vypyr VIP 1 quite an amazing amplifier for what is a very good price.
