Check out this fantastic cover of Despacito by Leo Moracchioli…

Yes we are a bit late to this but there you go better late than never.  Recently we were introduced to the craziness that is Leo Moracchioli and in particular his cover of that modern pop classic (we are joking by the way!!!) Despacito.

Who is Leo Moracchioli?

For those of you that don’t know Leo Moracchioli is a Norwegian actor and musician.  He is perhaps better known in the guitar community as the founder of the YouTube channel Frog Leap Studios.  A multi talented musician Moracchioli has become famous, or perhaps that should be infamous, for his irreverent re-interpretations of some classic songs.  For example he has covered Eye of the Tiger, Hello by Adele and Eminem’s Lose Yourself giving them a metal polish that takes the songs to a totally different level.

But it has to be said that for us it is his cover of Despacito that pushes Leo Moracchioli into the legendary guitarist league.  The way he captures the essence of the song is truly impressive.

As you all know Despacito is a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and featured the rapper Daddy Yankee.  It was released in January 12th 2017 but a remix featuring the teen pin-up Justin Bieber released in April 2017 helped, just a little bit, to improve the song’s chart performance.  Also for those of you that are fact collectors the video went onto become YouTubes most popular video of all time racking up over 5.5 billion views.

Now sadly for us the Leo Moracchioli version has not gone on to be quite so popular with just over 12 million views to date.  But don’t be fooled this is a classic and far better than the original.  So after all that build up take a look at the video below.

Enjoy…

If you enjoyed that, and I am sure you did, then check out more of Leo Moracchioli on his YouTube channel.
